Early career researcher conference bursaries
We recognise how important conference opportunities are for researchers to present and share research, network, and gain valuable exposure to shape future career development. Our bursary funding supports these opportunities.
We are allocating £20,000 per year to support ECR conference attendance.
You can apply for up to £250 for a UK conference and £1,000 for an international conference.
Applications now closed, check back here for reopening later in the year.
Bursary information
To be considered, you must:
- Be an early career researcher (anyone without a permanent established research position – this could include MRes/PhD students, fellows, postdoctoral researchers or research assistants)
- Be applying for a conference relevant to renal research and aligns with our charity priorities
- Not have applied for two previous conference bursaries with us, in the same financial year
- Be applying to a conference that is yet to take place
Priority will be given to researchers funded by us, or those who are actively applying to our funding streams.
Applications must meet all above criteria to be considered for an award.
Bursaries will be reviewed by Kidney Research UK and awarded based on reasons for attendance and expected experienced gained from attending.
How to make a successful application
- Each application will need to include details of the conference, any posters or talks that are being presented and an itemised breakdown of the costs for attending.
- The application will also need to include a short summary of what you hope to achieve as an ECR attending the conference.
- For this initial round of conference bursary applications, we are particularly interested in supporting ECRs to attend UKKW.
What happens next?
Following a successful application, we will make payment directly to the applicant. Payment details must be provided within two weeks after acceptance letter has been awarded otherwise the award may be reallocated.
After the meeting we will request a written report, or email, to summarise the attendance at the event, highlighting any achievements and outcomes, including photographs where applicable.
These materials may be shared publicly via our website and/or social media channels, following discussion with the applicant.
