Opus Property Maintenance's story

Oliver from Opus Property Maintenance approached Kidney Research UK in 2019 looking for ways he could support. Inspired by the fact that he has been able to live a relatively normal life thanks to a transplant, he wanted to give back through his business.

Oliver has now had the “proudly supporting Kidney Research UK” logos printed on his fleet of vans, showing his customers that the business is supporting lifesaving research. Oliver and the team at Opus also plan to get involved in several fundraising events, namely Tough Mudder, in order to raise £5,000 for Kidney Research UK. We can’t thank Oliver enough for all that him, his wife and the team at Opus are trying to do!

RunThrough recently launched this year a new running festival based in Peterborough at Ferry Meadows, which saw a 5k, 10k and a half marathon ran by running enthusiasts.

RunThrough and Kidney Research UK have come together as the running festivals charity of the year for their June 2025 event which will see the same distances ran around Ferry Meadows. This is the second event in Peterborough and the first charity of the year opportunity they have offered.

Keep an eye out for the launch of the event and run for Kidney Research UK.

VSCC's story

Vintage Sports Car Club have chosen Kidney Research UK as one of their charity of the year partners alongside Spinal Track, after being nominated by VSCC member and Kidney Research UK supporter Frank Higgins.

The partnership started in August 2024 and will span over three years. It will see a range of fundraising activities and attendance at some exciting car race meets.

Club secretary Tania Brown said, “We're thrilled to announce this partnership, as it reflects the Club's commitment not only to historic motorsport but also to meaningful causes. Our hope is to help these important organisations reach a broader audience and increase their exposure, creating a positive impact for those they serve.”

Wollen’s story

Kidney Research UK was first made aware about leading law firm Wollen’s when an article emerged about CEO, Chris Hart’s journey with kidney disease. Chris’ wife Liz had amazingly donated a kidney to Chris just before Christmas 2018. By the end of January 2019, Chris and the team at Wollen’s were walking eight miles along the south coast to raise money for Kidney Research UK.

After this, our partnerships team met with Chris for a coffee in London. It was clear that Chris had a passion to do more and thus a plan and a partnership were formed. Fast forward to December 2019 and Wollen’s were hosting their very first quiz night, The Wollen’s Solicitors Quiz, at the very lovely Rockfish restaurant in Exeter.

2020 holds more exciting times with Wollen’s as they plan for their first ever golf day, taking place in the summer. It’s so exciting for us as an organisation to watch this company explore its first ever partnership with a charity. A partnership that is allowing them to open new avenues to engage clients, by inviting them to brilliant new events throughout the year. We’re so pleased to have you onboard Wollen’s.

Exclusive Networks are long standing supporters of Kidney Research UK and we’re proud to have an on-going partnership with them. Staff member Sam Blackburn has had a big part to play in this. Sam is a kidney patient, member of our lay advisory committee and all-round fantastic advocate and supporter of the charity.

As of the end of 2019, Exclusive Networks raised over £100,000 in the last 5 years. An absolutely incredible achievement! As a business, they have had members of staff running the London Marathon, tackling Tough Mudders, putting on bake sales and much more. What they’re renowned for in the Kidney Research UK office however, is their epic annual football tournament.

Each year the company invites its vendors, clients and suppliers to take part in a fun-filled day of football. The action is always followed up by a free dinner, auction and games and is an important date in the calendar for all involved.

Our partnership with Exclusive Networks is one we are proud of and one we’re excited about year after year. A big thank you goes out to everyone involved and thank you Sam for turning your passion for beating kidney disease into a fantastic selection of events.

Total Rail Solutions' story

Total Rail Solutions (TRS) are a new partner of Kidney Research UK as of 2020. Their passion for supporting research has been inspired by the moving stories of their colleague Mike and his son, Leon.

On 12 March, World Kidney Day, a brave team consisting of TRS staff, their customers, suppliers and clients are taking on the daring Welsh Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for Kidney Research UK. It’s a mammoth task and will take a lot of organisation, but they’re determined to do it.

In order to help others prevent kidney disease, they will be working with us to spread our kidney health check to their networks. TRS have lots of other exciting fundraising ideas planned for the future and we’re really pleased to have such a large company on board supporting us.

The fabulous team at AJW Distribution are supporting Kidney Research UK as their chosen charity for 2020. Team member Dean has a long family history with kidney disease and decided to use this connection as his motivation to do good. Dean encouraged his colleagues to choose Kidney Research UK as the company's Charity of the Year and, as of January 2020, the new partnership was formed.

Our partnerships team have been working hard with AJW Distribution to form an engagement and fundraising plan for the year. They have some great ideas in mind, including a depot to depot bike ride known as “Tour De Branch”. They will also be honouring us at their annual golf day! Alongside the amazing fundraising plans they will be sharing our “Take a Wee Look” health awareness posters and inviting their colleagues, suppliers and customers to take our kidney health check. Raising funds and helping the public avoid kidney disease in the first place; way to go AJW Distribution!
