{"id":162217,"date":"2026-06-08T17:55:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T16:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kidneyresearchuk.org\/?p=162217"},"modified":"2026-06-09T13:32:58","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T12:32:58","slug":"vital-funding-allocated-to-kidney-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kidneyresearchuk.org\/2026\/06\/08\/vital-funding-allocated-to-kidney-research\/","title":{"rendered":"Vital funding allocated to kidney research"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n\r\n\t\t\r\n\t<p>Kidney Research UK\u00a0is set to\u00a0receive\u00a0almost \u00a31m\u00a0to expand the UK&#8217;s renal research capabilities by attracting and retaining more scientists and clinicians.\u00a0The\u00a0money,\u00a0from the National Institute for Health and Care Research, is\u00a0part of a new\u00a0package of \u00a337m\u00a0funding\u00a0being\u00a0awarded\u00a0to 89 medical research charities in the UK to support early career researchers.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>The funding will enable the charity to\u00a0boost interest in\u00a0working\u00a0in\u00a0renal research, and\u00a0draw\u00a0people\u00a0from multiple\u00a0disciplines,\u00a0with a\u00a0broad range\u00a0of skills and\u00a0perspectives.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>The scheme\u00a0is being delivered in\u00a0partnership with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amrc.org.uk\/\">Association of Medical Research Charities<\/a> (AMRC), which Kidney Research UK\u00a0is\u00a0a member of.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>Nicola Perrin,\u00a0chief\u00a0executive of AMRC, said: &#8220;Charities do more than invest\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0they connect researchers with patients and communities, grounding research in real-world needs and inspiring long-term careers.\u00a0We are proud to have helped bring this forward and hope it will strengthen the clinical research workforce by\u00a0retaining\u00a0talent, accelerating\u00a0innovation\u00a0and improving outcomes for patients.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<figure itemscope itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/ImageObject\">\r\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.kidneyresearchuk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/DAVID_CROSBY-e1760520800522-250x250.jpg\" alt=\"David smiling for a portrait photograph.
