Patient and public involvement

People affected by kidney disease bring lived experience that can improve research, policy and communications.

We work with patients, carers and families to make sure our work is shaped by what matters most to the kidney community.

Lived experience shapes our work - not just informing what we do, but influencing decisions, driving change, and making our research better, fairer and more relevant.

Our patient involvement groups

We work with different patient involvement groups, depending on the type of work and the kind of experience needed.

Lay Advisory Group

Members help guide our work by sharing their experiences and views. The group helps make sure patient perspectives influence decisions across the charity.

Experts by experience

Members review research funding applications from a livedexperience perspective. This happens alongside scientific review, not instead of it.

Policy and campaigns panel

Members help shape our policy and campaigning work, sharing lived experience to influence decision‑makers across the UK.

Marcomms insights panel

Members give feedback on our marketing, communications and engagement work, including campaigns, publications and health information.

Do you want to get involved?

Are you a patient, carer or family member who wants to use your voice to improve kidney research?
