What we expect from you

- To work reliably to the best of your ability and to give as much warning as possible if you cannot work when expected.

- To follow Kidney Research UK’s rules and procedures, including health and safety, equal opportunities, and confidentiality.

- To attend your volunteering sessions in appropriate clothing, suitable for your role.

- To promote and be a charity champion during your volunteering with Kidney Research UK.

- To respect staff, volunteers, and visitors you work with, speak to, and meet whilst volunteering.

How we protect your personal data

For ease of communication, if you sign up as a community ambassador, we may add you to a local WhatsApp group. This is intended to facilitate communications and will not be used for marketing purposes. If you do not wish to be part of any WhatsApp group, please let the Volunteer Manager know. Personal information means anything that can be used to identify a living person. This includes your name, address, telephone number, email address, and similar details.

Sensitive personal data includes information such as ethnicity, health, and sexuality. This type of information must be handled with particular care.

You may need access to personal information to fulfil your role. In this case, your charity contact will explain how to handle and protect this data. When volunteering, you will meet and speak with people regularly, and they may share personal information with you.

In your personal life, you are free to share information with friends, acquaintances, and family. However, any personal data received while volunteering for Kidney Research UK must be protected by law.

All volunteers are required to comply with the charity’s policies and procedures. If you need clarification or have questions, please speak with your contact. They can also arrange a discussion with our data protection expert if needed.

If your role requires access to our information systems, you must read our Data Protection Policies, including the Acceptable Use Policy. Your contact will provide these.
